Huckleberry Finn
Bloom's Taxonomy Q and A's
Level 1: Knowledge [characters]
1.) Describe Huckleberry Finn in the beginning of the story.
In the beginning of the story Huckleberry was very dirty. He was an orphane that had been taken in by the widow.
2.) List three main characters of the first three chapters.
Huckleberry Finn
Tom Sawyer and
The widow Douglas
Level 2: Comprehension [characters]
3.) Tell in your own words the type of person Huck Finn was by the end of the book.
By the end of the book Huck Finn has grown into a young man who is smarter, cleaner and no longer confused with life.
4.) Did any of the characters do or say anything that you did not approve of? If so, what was it?
Yes. I did not like that the use of the word 'nigger' should have been used so consistantly.
Level 3: Application [characters]
5.) Did the way that the widow treated Huck Finn remind youof the way nyone treats/treated you?
Yes because there was and still always someone in my life who cares for me and wants me to do my best. No because nobody has to tell me how and when to clense myself.
6.) Pretend you are a character in the book, what is you perspective of Huck's pap?
I think that Hucks pap is cruel and i also think he is an unfit father.
Level 4: Analysis [characters]
7.) Tell two ways you and Jim are alike.
We are both African American.
We are both very smart.
8.) Draw a shape that describes the main character. Then write a visual descriptiton of this character.
dirty
dingy
wragged clothing
frilly haired
Level 5: Synthesis [characters]
9.) If you were the author of Huck Finn what would you change about his life?
There isn't anything I would change about his life. Everything that happened in his life, helped
him grow into what he has become. He has grown into a young man who knows right from wrong. He also know how to make good decisions.
Next I say I wouldn't change anything, because even though he disliked living with the widow. She fed him and nutured him and kept him clean. She also cared for him in a way that no one has ever cared for him before.
Also even though the way that pap treated him was horrible. The physical and mental abuse helped Huck progress into what he has become. He has become a stronger, smarter young man. When he faked his death to get away from his pap, that was smart as well as strong. He could've gotten into a lot of trouble if had gotten caught, he could have also been abused by his father if his father found out.
By him helping Jim to escape, he could have been locked up. It was a crime back then to help a slave to escape. Being as though they were both running away and he was not just helping A SLAVE to escape, that is more on his account. Huck has did many things that could have gotten him in alot of trouble.
Those are some of the things why I say I would not change anything in Huck's Life. Everything that happened in his life made him the type of person he has turned into. The caring that the widow has given him down to the physical and mental abus e given to him by his pap. Huck Finn has grown into a smarter and stronger young man.
10.) Writre a poem about the book.
Slaves, drama, fantasy's
All taken place in this book
If you don't believe me
Just take a look
So many conflicts
Abuse and runnaway slaves
Thought they were dumb
Thought they were sick
Scams of deaths
Mistaken about who did it
Thought it was the slave
Then they got caught
Jim put away
Huck taken in
Changed on him for a minute
Then came to his senses
And realized what he did
Escaped again
Got caught by some thieves
Were forced to help them scam
Thieves got caught
Huck and Jim got in trouble as well
THIER LIFE WAS HELL
Level 6: Evaluation [characters]

I would choose Jim to be my friend, because he is very much more intelligent than anyone thinks. He makes sacrafices for his friends. He is a good person in mind and heart. He heng boy who has lped Huck alot within their journey. He is bold as well. He is not afraid of anything or anyone and I like that in a friendship. He is the type of person who is there for his friends from beginning to end, no matter what problems occur.
12.) If you could save one character in this book from a disaster who would it be and why?
I would save Huck from being taken in by his pap. I would save him because his father had no right to do what he did to him. He was to young to deal with those types of problems.

6.) Write a brief letter to a friend telling how the one setting played an important role in the book.
Dear.....
I've read this book called the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This book has a lot of different settinngs. This book involves a young boy who is going through problems with his low-life father. To get away from his father he faked his own death [[crazy right]]. Well anyway this boy faked his death and caused everyone to go around looking for his murderer, And get this this whole faking his death thing took place in his cabin. Thats right a log cabin with no windows a door Huck could not escape from and a chimney. That had a huge effect on the book and the rest of the settings.
Sincerley Yours,
Marne'
Level 4: Analysis [setting]
7.) Compare the widow's house to your own. What is one similarity and one thing that is different?
By comparing my house to the widow's, the similarity is that in that both of our homes are clean. The differences are that they have a lot of spiritual things in their home and I don't.
8.) Compare the settings of this book to the settings in the last book you read.
The settings in the last book I read consist of a school, The houses of students, and the park. Unlike Huckleberry Finn. Huck Finn consist of a log cabin, caves, boats/ships, and a court house.
Level 5: Synthesis [setting]
9.) Write a poem about all the different settings of the book.
From loving homes
To abusive log cabins
To ships a of dead fathers
From the fake homes
Of thieving men
Oh goodness why bother
A problem at every corner
To an unknown lady's house
With a wig on
laugh out loud
To a forest where
no one ever goes
Where are they now
Nobody knows
10.) Pretend you are reccomending this book to someone, and the first thing they say tell me about the setting. Write what you would tell them.
I would say to them that there are multiple settings. Each setting plays a big role in the book. The settings also cause a lot of the conflict.
Level 6: Evaluation [setting]
11.) Do you like the setting in which the story ended? Why or Why not?
Yes I liked the setting in which the ending took place because it made it out to be a good ending.
12.) Tell about the most exiting setting in the book and give two examples why.
The most exiting setting to me is the log cabin setting. I think that is the most exciting because that it the setting where Huck faked his death. Another thing that took place at that setting was the father was going through a little drunken phaze.
