Ruby Bridges was important to history because she helped to change the world's views segregated schools. Ruby Bridges was born in 1954, in Tylertown, Mississippi. In 1960 she attended which used to be a segregated school, only for white children and teachers. She attended this school because she was selected along with 3 other African American students to attend this because they had a gift. They were very intelligent. She was the only one out of the 4 girls who actually attended.

SERVICE LEARNING 5.15.08
On Thursday 5.15.08 in service learning we took a walk down to tenth street. We observed all the places and took a survey to where we thought parent would take their children. We went inside the Mcdonalds, there we saw dirty tables which is bad for children. Also as I walked around the Mcdonalds there was someone mopping the floor and I slipped and almost fell. The is a hazourdous to children because they could fall and hurt themselves. Kenya Mcqueen is in our group and she has a job to call the gallery and talk to someone and see what we have to do set up a booth or something so that we can talk to people and inform them of the dangers for their children.

Service Learning 5.9.08
My service learning group has split into two groups. One group is Led and the other is Child Safety. We now have divided our groups up into different sections that depend on our topics. We are all researching our topic and our assignment is to e-mail the information to the rest of our service learning group. We are also making business cards and brochures to give to adults to inform them of the dangers in their homes as well as anywhere them and their child and their families attend. Also next week we will be touring the neighborhood to see where would be good places to give the surveys and business cards.

N.H.D Reflection
This project was one of the most difficult and most stressful project I have ever done. There are a few things I learned from this project. I worked by myself and I did an exhibit. My topic was Godey's Lady's Book. That was the first womens magazine started in the year 1830. I learned that there were a lot of struggles during that time period for women. Before this magazine was published the only thing women had to read was the bible. All they had to do were be home makers.
I had 30 annotated sources. I did a lot of research. I went through a lot of problems within the the problems. Two months did not seem like enough. I think that it may be because at first i was not that much into it. I think that it would have been less stressful if it was more organized. I also think that we should have started earlier than what we did. I also think that if whether somone si working by themselves or not, they should be able to have any project type they want.
With my project it got to the point where i was ready to quit.

blooms taxonomy for Huckleberry Finn .
Marne Fields
English class
Mr. Romero
Huckleberry Finn
Bloom's Taxonomy Q and A's
Level 1: Knowledge [characters]
1.) Describe Huckleberry Finn in the beginning of the story.
In the beginning of the story Huckleberry was very dirty. He was an orphane that had been taken in by the widow.
2.) List three main characters of the first three chapters.
Huckleberry Finn
Tom Sawyer and
The widow Douglas
Level 2: Comprehension [characters]
3.) Tell in your own words the type of person Huck Finn was by the end of the book.
By the end of the book Huck Finn has grown into a young man who is smarter, cleaner and no longer confused with life.
4.) Did any of the characters do or say anything that you did not approve of? If so, what was it?
Yes. I did not like that the use of the word 'nigger' should have been used so consistantly.
Level 3: Application [characters]
5.) Did the way that the widow treated Huck Finn remind youof the way nyone treats/treated you?
Yes because there was and still always someone in my life who cares for me and wants me to do my best. No because nobody has to tell me how and when to clense myself.
6.) Pretend you are a character in the book, what is you perspective of Huck's pap?
I think that Hucks pap is cruel and i also think he is an unfit father.
Level 4: Analysis [characters]
7.) Tell two ways you and Jim are alike.
We are both African American.
We are both very smart.
8.) Draw a shape that describes the main character. Then write a visual descriptiton of this character.
dirty
dingy
wragged clothing
frilly haired
Level 5: Synthesis [characters]
9.) If you were the author of Huck Finn what would you change about his life?
There isn't anything I would change about his life. Everything that happened in his life, helped
him grow into what he has become. He has grown into a young man who knows right from wrong. He also know how to make good decisions.
Next I say I wouldn't change anything, because even though he disliked living with the widow. She fed him and nutured him and kept him clean. She also cared for him in a way that no one has ever cared for him before.
Also even though the way that pap treated him was horrible. The physical and mental abuse helped Huck progress into what he has become. He has become a stronger, smarter young man. When he faked his death to get away from his pap, that was smart as well as strong. He could've gotten into a lot of trouble if had gotten caught, he could have also been abused by his father if his father found out.
By him helping Jim to escape, he could have been locked up. It was a crime back then to help a slave to escape. Being as though they were both running away and he was not just helping A SLAVE to escape, that is more on his account. Huck has did many things that could have gotten him in alot of trouble.
Those are some of the things why I say I would not change anything in Huck's Life. Everything that happened in his life made him the type of person he has turned into. The caring that the widow has given him down to the physical and mental abus e given to him by his pap. Huck Finn has grown into a smarter and stronger young man.
10.) Writre a poem about the book.
Slaves, drama, fantasy's
All taken place in this book
If you don't believe me
Just take a look
So many conflicts
Abuse and runnaway slaves
Thought they were dumb
Thought they were sick
Scams of deaths
Mistaken about who did it
Thought it was the slave
Then they got caught
Jim put away
Huck taken in
Changed on him for a minute
Then came to his senses
And realized what he did
Escaped again
Got caught by some thieves
Were forced to help them scam
Thieves got caught
Huck and Jim got in trouble as well
THIER LIFE WAS HELL
Level 6: Evaluation [characters]
11.)Which character in the book would you choose for a friend? Why?
I would choose Jim to be my friend, because he is very much more intelligent than anyone thinks. He makes sacrafices for his friends. He is a good person in mind and heart. He heng boy who has lped Huck alot within their journey. He is bold as well. He is not afraid of anything or anyone and I like that in a friendship. He is the type of person who is there for his friends from beginning to end, no matter what problems occur.
12.) If you could save one character in this book from a disaster who would it be and why?
I would save Huck from being taken in by his pap. I would save him because his father had no right to do what he did to him. He was to young to deal with those types of problems.
Level 1: Knowledge [setting]
1.) Name two setting in which this story took place.
At the widow's house
At the house of Mary Jane
2.) Describe the cabin that Huck lived in with his pap.
I had no windows. It had a door that only pap knew how to to get into and out of. It was dirty. It had no class.
Level 2: Comprehension [setting]
3.) If you could take away a setting from the book which one would it be?
I would take away the setting of the lag cabin because that is where alot of the abuse took place.
4.) What did the title have to do with all the different settings of the book?
All the adventures were taken place in a different setting.
Level 3: Application [setting]
5.) What is the most important setting to you? Why?
The most important setting to me is the setting where the father was found dead on the ship. I think that is the most important setting because that place in the book as well as the movie was a very intense moment.
6.) Write a brief letter to a friend telling how the one setting played an important role in the book.
Dear.....
I've read this book called the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This book has a lot of different settinngs. This book involves a young boy who is going through problems with his low-life father. To get away from his father he faked his own death [[crazy right]]. Well anyway this boy faked his death and caused everyone to go around looking for his murderer, And get this this whole faking his death thing took place in his cabin. Thats right a log cabin with no windows a door Huck could not escape from and a chimney. That had a huge effect on the book and the rest of the settings.
Sincerley Yours,
Marne'
Level 4: Analysis [setting]
7.) Compare the widow's house to your own. What is one similarity and one thing that is different?
By comparing my house to the widow's, the similarity is that in that both of our homes are clean. The differences are that they have a lot of spiritual things in their home and I don't.
8.) Compare the settings of this book to the settings in the last book you read.
The settings in the last book I read consist of a school, The houses of students, and the park. Unlike Huckleberry Finn. Huck Finn consist of a log cabin, caves, boats/ships, and a court house.
Level 5: Synthesis [setting]
9.) Write a poem about all the different settings of the book.
From loving homes
To abusive log cabins
To ships a of dead fathers
From the fake homes
Of thieving men
Oh goodness why bother
A problem at every corner
To an unknown lady's house
With a wig on
laugh out loud
To a forest where
no one ever goes
Where are they now
Nobody knows
10.) Pretend you are reccomending this book to someone, and the first thing they say tell me about the setting. Write what you would tell them.
I would say to them that there are multiple settings. Each setting plays a big role in the book. The settings also cause a lot of the conflict.
Level 6: Evaluation [setting]
11.) Do you like the setting in which the story ended? Why or Why not?
Yes I liked the setting in which the ending took place because it made it out to be a good ending.
12.) Tell about the most exiting setting in the book and give two examples why.
The most exiting setting to me is the log cabin setting. I think that is the most exciting because that it the setting where Huck faked his death. Another thing that took place at that setting was the father was going through a little drunken phaze.

Why should I have an "'A'" in Mr. Romero's English Class

Mr. Romero
Period: 6-7
In my letter I will explain why I deserve to get an "A" in Mr. Romero's 6/7English class. First and foremost with everything I do in that class I do it fullest potential. I participate reguarly in his class. As to my well as, my behavior is on the money.
First I would like to start by saying that, everything that I've done thus far in my English class has be done has been worked very hard on. Every project, worksheet, and class assignment has been done by me to my fullest potential. My school work means a lot to me.
Next I would like to add that my participation is at the top. Everytime there is something to be read in class, my hand is always raised. Everytime there is something that needs to be presented for my group I am one to voulenteer. Even though I am not always chosen the effort always counts for something.
Lastly I would like to bring up my behavior. I never start any trouble in class. I am respectful of you. Even though within these eighty some days there are things that have provoked me to do certain things that I knew would get me in trouble I refused.
Now that I have explained that I should recieve an "A" in english class Mr. Romero because all my work is done to my fullest potential, I always participate,
and because I am never any trouble. I would like to conclude by saying that I deserve the "A" because, All the things I have mentioned mean a lot to me and it should mean a lot considering my grade. Besides English is my strongest subject.

MY CONTRiVERSiAL TOPiC
My contriversial topic is what age should people be able to have a lover. My perspective is that which ever age someone chooses to have a lover it is their choice and no one elses. People should not put anyone down because of who they date and what age they are. It is no ones buisness what age someone dates /has a lover.
First I would like to start by saying that it is no ones buisness what age someone choosed to have a lover. If someone chooses to have a lover at 10 than that is on them and nobody should discriminate on their desicion to be lovers.
This topic does have some contreversy. People who are parents feel like their children should not have a lover until they are atleast eighteen, because at that age they are considered grown. Church folk may think that nobody should have a lover until they are married. But children haev atotally different perspective. Most people of the teenage age groeup feel it's their life and if they choose to have a lover than that's them.

Should Huck Finn be taught in C.H.S
I think that the book Huckleberry Finn should only be taught in some schools. I think it should be taught in high schools. Also middle schools that have high standards. If the school is a school of immature students who are not ready to be exposed to this type of book, it shouldn't be taught there.
I think it should be taught in all high schools. I think this because high school students should be mature enough to deal with the situtations in the book. This book has many conflicts, and that can help students study conflict better. Huck Finn can be helpful to students who are studying that time period. It can also tell how uneducated people acted during that time and compare it to today's conflicts with those type of people.
I also think it should be taught in middle schools with high standards. Any middle school which it is difficult to get into, the book should be taught there. I think it should be taught there because students that are in those type of schools can realte to these types of books. They are almost on the same levels of high school students.
I think Huck Finn should be taught in C.H.S especiall be cause the stuents in this school are up to the levels where they read this type of book nd learn a lot from it. I think that the English teacher is qualified to teach it very well. There is no issue with any student with reading this book. It is a good learning device for the students of this school.
These are the reasons why I think the book should be taught in Constitution High School. I think that we are mature enough. It is a good learning tool. It helps to learn about the time period.
