Ruby Bridges was important to history because she helped to change the world's views segregated schools. Ruby Bridges was born in 1954, in Tylertown, Mississippi. In 1960 she attended which used to be a segregated school, only for white children and teachers. She attended this school because she was selected along with 3 other African American students to attend this because they had a gift. They were very intelligent. She was the only one out of the 4 girls who actually attended.
